Historical Event on 1/3/1836

Munshi Newal Kishore, son of Jamuna Prasad Bhargava--a zamindar of Aligarh-- and a great erudite scholar, educationist, nationalist, social worker and a pioneer industrialist, was born. He was the founder of Navalkishore Press, Lucknow (1858), which published 2612 books that elaborated Hindi literature. He was the Publisher of Awadhi Newspaper in Asia.

11/6/1988The graduated use of force finally compelled the rebels to surrender and the personnel of Godavari then took over. When psychological pressure did not succeed, warning shots were fired by both the naval ships.
7/6/1986Babu Jagjivan Ram, valiant freedom fighter, passed away. He held many prominent ministerial portfolios such as Communication Minister (1952-56), Railway Minister (1956-62), Food and Agriculture Minister (1967-70), Defence Minister (1970-74). After 1977, he became the Deputy Prime Minister (Defence) in Janta regime. Thereafter, he established Congress (J). His uninterrupted representation in the Parliament from 1936 to 1986 is a world record.(5-4-91).
