Hopefully, we will be mentally alert at a ripe old age, and it is very likely that we will review the period of time we spent on this planet. What are the chances you will say, "My only regret is that I did not spend more time at the office?" Everyone else says, "I wish I had spent more time with my family."
Well, why not think ahead and lead your life in a way that you won't have these regrets?
No doubt, the office is important. That is where you earn your livelihood, and that is where you try to earn enough so that you can give the kids the things they need. But wait a minute! Have you ever thought that one of the things the kids need most is YOU? If you are not spending enough time with the children because you are busy to earn more in order to buy them things, you are making a statement that "things are more important, more worthy, more valuable to you than I am."
Thank God for the Sunday. Without it the kids might not even know who we are!
I understand that the things that are the necessities and even some of the niceties of life. But that still does not justify spending a lopsided amount of time at work relative to how much time we spend with the family.
So do readjust your priorities, and spend more time with the family. You will develop a feeling of emotional well-being that will be beneficial to everyone. And you won't have anything to regret.
