Bengaluru, Sep 17 (IANS) The ruling BJP's newly elected Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, Ashok Gasti is in a critical condition due to Covid-induced complications at a private hospital in the city, an official said on Thursday.
"Gasti is in a critical condition. He was admitted in our hospital recently after he tested Covid positive," a Manipal Hospital spokesperson told IANS.
Gasti, 55, was elected unopposed to the Upper House on June 12 along with Iranna Kadadi of the BJP.
An advocate by profession, he hails from the barber community and belongs to Raichur district in the state's northern region, about 490 km away from Bengaluru.
Gasti, a law graduate, is the party's former Raichur district zilla parishad president.
