3/7/2000A. Madhava Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister, dies in a landmine blast at Ghatkesar village in Ranga Reddy district.

8/16/1886Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa dies at the age of 50. His real name was Gadadhar Ghatterji. An Indian mystic, leader and saint, he preached unity of religions. Swami Vivekanand was his disciple.
2/17/1993Rani Gaidinliu, freedom fighter, social reformer and political leader, died at her native village in Manipur. The British army made a surprise attack on her position and captured her. On 17th October, 1932, Pandit Nehru once wrote ""A day will come when India will remember her and cherishe her"".
7/14/1923Iqbal Singh Bhatia, great educationist, was born at Kotla Qasim Khan, (Pakistan).
